When first pulling up to the house, travelers will be in awe of this Airbnb treehouse’s modern, wood-paneled exterior. After parking the car, guests climb a staircase to the home’s main level, an open blueprint with floor-to ceiling-windows that offer picturesque views of the surrounding forest. Our two favorite things about the house — in addition to its spectacular design — are the loft-style bedroom, which requires crawling up a sturdy ladder (very treehouse-esque), as well as the ground floor hot tub. An hour away from Portland, Oregon, across state borderlines in White Salmon, Washington, The Klickitat Treehouse (@the_klickitat_treehouse) is a 500-sqft alpine-modern Airbnb treehouse fully supported by native Douglas Fir Trees. Architects had two things in mind when building the space: They wanted it to be inspired by Scandinavian design and those who live a mountaineer lifestyle. Our favorite part is the floor-to-ceiling windows and glass sliding doors, which lead to an expansive deck that offers breathtaking views of Mt. Adams and the surrounding forest.
Sulfur Ridge – Cookeville, Tennessee
Down in Tennessee, vacation rental Sulfur Ridge (@sulfurridge) takes the title as the state’s “first luxury treehouse & Shasta camp.” Situated less than an hour away from Nashville, this rental takes the crown for carefully-thought-out decorating. Splendors include a gate constructed with wine bottles, a front door taken from an 1848 antebellum mansion, a 1976 Rockola Princess Juke Box for playing tunes, and a cozy swinging bed outside.
