Cathédrale Restaurant at Moxy East Village in New York City Is Where You Need to Make Your Next Dinner Reservation

It’s no secret that New York City outclasses when it comes to the design-forward and trendy restaurants & bar realms. The best-in-class dining establishments dotting America’s most buzzy metropolis check the boxes in both the aesthetic and gastronomical departments, a 360-degree showcase of excellence, palatably and visually. And, since we are your all-things-hospitality gurus, without further ado, we would like to introduce you to a dining establishment that “passes with flying colors” in the aforementioned criteria: Cathédrale Restaurant at the Moxy East Village.

Set in Manhattan’s East Village neighborhood, Cathédrale pays homage to the area’s once-upon-a-time ’70s and ’80s punk rock epicenter identity. The underground restaurant sports an unseemly soaring 26-foot-tall ceiling covered in a mesh wire sculpture. Called the Fillmore, the intricate structure is a tribute to the Fillmore East, a.k.a the “Church of Rock’n’Roll” and one of the city’s most notorious concert halls back in the day. A dimly lit bar centers the main dining area, spawning a moody decorous feeling. Interiorly, concrete walls and vintage-style art pieces such as old concert posters and neon signs reminisce East Village’s storied nightlife spots. Outside, a lush green outdoor terrace breeds amicable dinner conversations where each person seated at the table can hear one another speak.

As for the food, Chef Jason Hall carefully creates a seasonal menu serving French-infused Mediterranean cuisine. This curtailed menu allows certain ingredients to take the spotlight and honor the current season’s bounty. Think Yellowfin Tuna Cru with poppy seed crisps, green olives, and cherry tomato preserve as hor d’oeuvres; Autumn Squash with honey nut and pomegranate vinaigrette as an entree; and warm Honeycrisp Apple Tart Tatin as a dessert for the autumn and winter seasons. Complement any of these dishes with a deliciously crafted cocktail (We love the Barcelonette, which comprises Pelotón de la Muerte Mezcal, aloe vera, cucumber, winter melon, agave, and lime).

A knockout in appearance, atmosphere, and gastronomy, Cathédrale bodes terrifically with the neighborhood and its host, the oh-so-trendy Moxy East Village.
