Taste the Flavors of Latin America in NYC’s Flatiron District

Step into the vibrant world of Chica & The Don, Flatiron’s latest hotspot that brings the heat and heart of Latin America right to your table.

Behind this lively concept is Nick Semkiw, a seasoned partner known for his work at the Lower East Side rum bar Las’ Lap. Teaming up with Executive Chef Michelle Chan, who holds culinary pedigree from The Aviary, The Lambs Club, and The Clocktower, Semkiw has curated a menu that’s as dynamic as the cultures it represents. Together, they’ve crafted a menu that pays homage to their Latin roots, drawing inspiration from the rich culinary traditions of Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, and Mexico.

The interiors showcase bold, colorful accents and intricate patterns that evoke the rich cultural tapestry of Latin America. Guests walk through a corridor lined with vintage postcards from cities around South America. Faux greenery inspired by the plants native to the southern hemisphere hangs from the ceilings. Warm, earthy tones are juxtaposed by striking hues of crimson, turquoise, and floral-patterned wallpaper.

Begin with the crispy Chicharrón, elevated with spiced vinegar, lime, and a dash of tajin, or dive into the Lomo Saltado Empanadas, bursting with seasoned ground beef, Yukon potatoes, tomatoes, and sautéed onions. The Shrimp and Red Snapper Ceviche, paired with a coconut, aji amarillo, and mango citrus broth, offers a refreshing contrast, while the Fried Red Snapper, served in a rich coconut tomato sauce, brings depth and warmth.

For a show-stopping experience, try the Roasted Chicken, flambéed tableside, accompanied by annatto saffron oil and the house’s famed green sauce.

No Latin feast is complete without a stellar drink in hand, and Beverage Director Elvis Rosario––previously of Bathtub Gin and FIFTY––delivers just that.

Sip on the Chica, a tropical delight blending the richness of aged rum, coconut, housemade strawberry condensed milk purée, and lemon, served in a Cantarito clay mug.

Or, opt for The Don, a striking twist on the Old Fashioned, featuring scotch, mamajuana, tamarind, banane (banana liqueur), aromatic bitters, and cinnamon. Each is crafted to complement the spirited flavors of the menu, making Chica & The Don a destination where every bite and sip tells a story.

This modern cocktail lounge and restaurant is not just another addition to the city’s dining scene—it’s a celebration of Latin American culture, flavors, and flair.
