Montenegro

Pristine beaches, charming towns, vast wildlife, and magical mountain landscapes: Find all this and more in the often-overlooked country of Montenegro. The destination is most famous for the Bay of Kotor and its Old Town, which comprises churches, cafes, town squares, and other charming elements. Its most notable landmark, the Cathedral of Saint Tryphon, dates back to the Middle Ages. Perast, a postcard-worthy village along the waterfront, is also nearby, as is the centuries-old Our Lady of the Rocks, which is best known for its namesake church and museum. Meanwhile, Durmitor National Park — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — spans glacial lakes, meadows, gorges, canyons, and forests. It’s popular amongst hikers and wildlife spotters. Sunseekers should visit the Budva Riviera, a beloved beach destination along the Adriatic Sea. The main town, Budva, boasts a beautiful Old Town that’s dotted with shops and restaurants. Lastly, the Blue Grotto, which is only accessible via boat, feels like an Instagram filter IRL thanks to its vibrant blue waters. It’s also a great spot for swimming and snorkeling.
