It’s Above Par and For Others: This Giving Tuesday, Upgrade Your Airport Look in Streetwear with a Soul

Imagine this: you’re walking through the airport after your holiday vacation in an oversized crewneck, dad hat, and leggings. You have the air of Kith but the empathy of a social worker. You look cool but more importantly, you’re socially conscious–and it’s all because you’re wearing the hottest streetwear with a soul. Enter: For Others. This accessible streetwear brand merges charity with style, provides real impact to local communities, and looks great on everyone.

A few dollars from every item sold from For Others gets reinvested back into the needs of the local community. Local food banks, Feeding America, and DonorsChoose benefit from the profits driven by the brand. For Others also seamlessly merges charity and collaborative design with local hot spots like Cafe Habana to independent media brands like Secret NYC

So, this Giving Tuesday, we tapped Brandon Blum, one of the founders of For Others, to learn more about his mission and inspire our readers to upgrade their airport attire and give back at once.

When did you found For Others and why?

For Others was founded by brothers Brandon and Jonathan in late 2021.

The goal was to create a clothing company that provided real impact to real people in their own local community – without compromising quality or style. More directly, Brandon and Jonathan wanted to inspire their friends and family to be part of the solution not the problem during the pandemic.

The concept – which remains in large part the exact same three years later – was that the brand would take a few dollars from every item sold and reinvest it back into the community the item was purchased in.

We named the brand For Others in honor of our late grandfather, who always emphasized the importance of ‘doing for others’ when they were growing up.”

Which charities do you support and how?

“We’ve worked with hundreds of charities across the United States since launch. The two primary non-profit organizations we work with are Feeding America and DonorsChoose.

When you purchase an item from the Elementary Collection, For Others finds a teacher in your community requesting specific school supplies for their classroom. DonorsChoose will ship the supplies directly to the teacher in-need. Once this is complete, For Others sends you an email detailing the exact school project and classroom your purchase has supported.

When you purchase an item from the Impact Collection, For Others locates a food bank in your specific community. When you receive your item, inside the packaging is a note that lets you know the exact number of meals that will be donated as well as the the exact food bank in your local community that your order will benefit. At the end of the quarter, For Others emails you to confirm your impact has been carried out.”

What’s next for For Others?

“Moving forward, For Others is determined to be the clothing brand known for their capsule collaborations with creators/personalities. The success of the Kristi Howard campaign was the proof of concept. We are excited to announce our next collaboration partner, which will be announced on Giving Tuesday later this year (Dec 3rd).

More broadly, we are excited about growing our private labeling business, where we can support brands and businesses looking to create high-end event and promotional merchandise.

We are also excited to hit 100,000 meals donated very soon, and have an exclusive capsule tee’d up to help us commemorate this huge milestone moment.

Lastly, we are excited to slowly introduce more cut and sew pieces to our assortment, which our customers have been asking for for a long time!”
