The hotel’s entrance doesn’t contain commercial fanfare. Instead, two wooden doors open up like a home would. The 32-room hotel was designed to be a relaxing oasis. Rooms are filled with marble-clad floors, sun-filled balconies, a deep soaking tub, and Malin + Goetz amenities. Each room is unique in its design, so should guests want to book again after staying, they can experience a new stay each time.
Rooms are split into three primary sections and designed for intimate seclusion. For guests looking for the ultimate touch of luxury, a stay in the Owner Suites boasts a spacious living area, a posh ambiance, and a private sun-filled outdoor space.
The suites and rooms are a work of art, perfect for a 21st-century lifestyle in a classic city. Exceptional space to relax, luxurious fabrics, custom light fixtures, and different art pieces in every room represent the hotel’s collection.
To satiate the spa kick, Hotel Matilda’s in-house spa offers a specialty menu ranging from facials to full body treatments. House treatments are all inspired by five wellness approaches: energy, recovery, focus, radiance, and decompression.
The Lineal Treatment is a three-part treatment that utilizes mezcal and agave to provide a purifying body experience. The scrub exfoliates and preps the skin for the next step, starting with a full-body scrub with rosemary and agave sugars. After washing off the scrub, a body mask infused with Mezcal and arnica is applied and wrapped to nourish the skin. A full-body massage closes out the entire treatment.
Led by Michelin-starred chef, Vicente Torres, Moxi is presenting guests with a fine dining experience with a touch of Mediterranean influences. And for folks looking to discover new cuisines, Mui is on the second floor cooking up classic Japanese fares. For drinks, The Monkey Bar is located by the pool. The table favorite was the Gin-based Lazy Monkey, a sweet and fruity cocktail for a hot summer day. For the martini lover, Caviartini is a twist on the classic featuring a caviar stuffed olive.
Just steps away is the city center, Jardín Allende. Stepping out of the hotel and walking on the cobblestone streets, it’s easy to travel around the city by foot. Bring sneakers, as the city is quite hilly but well worth the trek to El Mirador, the best overlook spot of the city. Or simply opt for a car.
