Hotel Zoom-In: The Conservatorium

The luxe Conservatorium Hotel (@conservatoriumhotel) is an Amsterdam masterpiece, one that interweaves a heritage-rich building with sleek, contemporary design. The hotel has had two past lives: One as a bank, and the other as a music conservatorium. Italian Architect, Piero Lissoni, headed the edifice’s exquisite transformation into an award-winning hotel. Upon entering, guests are greeted by the Conservatorium Hotel’s nucleus, its glass-enclosed lobby, only to be further stunned by the brilliant mix of old and new design elements. Those in need of pampering can do so at the on-site spa—one of the most extravagant in Amsterdam—which includes a lap pool, expansive gym, meditation programs, and Watsu (a form of water therapy). As far as dining at the hotel, we love Chef Schilo Van Coevorden’s Asian-inspired restaurant, Taiko, which blends refined decor with ambrosial flavors.
