Is This Napa Valley’s Chicest Boutique Hotel?

It’s no surprise that Napa Valley is a must-visit destination for wine lovers. As the most renowned wine region in the United States, it’s been a long-time draw for oenophiles; the dry, Mediterranean climate serves to grow more than 40 grape varieties, producing almost 50 million cases of wine a year. (We see you, King Cab.)

At Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection — a sprawling 700 acre, year-old luxury resort in the southern reaches of Napa Valley — guests can experience the new Napa, where there’s something for everyone, not just those seeking to imbibe. It stands apart from typical wine country lodging by embracing wellness at its core. Enter Halehouse, the massive, hilltop spa complex that anchors the property. Complete with a stunning outdoor pool, health-focused eatery, hyperbaric oxygen chamber, cedar sauna, cold plunge, movement studios, treatment rooms, and more, this section of Stanly Ranch is like nothing else on the Napa market. Seasonal wellness programming enhances what nature has to offer in the valley year-round, too, with outdoor yoga training and aqua fitness as popular summertime options. (After all that wine tasting, detox to retox then do it all again.)

On the accommodation side, Stanly Ranch features 70 standalone cabins sprinkled throughout the property’s immense footprint. Think modern farmhouse meets wine country luxe, complete with open floorplans, outdoor showers, and private terraces with fire pits. Guests can stretch their legs on winding pathways sprinkled with wildflowers and enjoy the Mayacama Mountain views, or they can hop into a golf cart for a staff escort to their room.

Multiple on-site restaurants help Stanly Ranch stand apart, too. You can start the day with pastries and caffeine at Gavel, the property’s coffee shop. Or pop over to Bear, the heart of the culinary program, for their house-specialty monkey bread. A true love letter to fresh, seasonally-driven California cuisine, Bear is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (plus brunch on the weekends). Don’t miss the life-changing vegan miso dip with garden veggies, savory tiger prawns starter, and luscious sourdough ice cream for dessert. It sounds bizarre, but it’s a creative twist on the eatery’s much-celebrated bread. For lighter fare, check out the Basin Bar, located adjacent to the main pool.

Special programming abounds at Stanly Ranch. A favorite is the botanical cocktail class, where attendees get a garden tour from the property’s farmer, then learn how to make their own craft cocktails with hand-picked herbs. Hawk walks, pasta-making, and exclusive winery experiences round out some more of their popular offerings.

At roughly $1,500 a night, Stanly Ranch isn’t exactly affordable, but it’s more than worth the splurge for the chic and sleek accommodations, tremendous wellness offerings, great service, delicious cuisine, and noteworthy programming. Wine country awaits at this stellar new Napa resort. Just remember to order the can’t-believe-it’s-vegan cashew miso dip.
