For Lizzie Mandler, travel isn’t just a pastime–it’s a source of inspiration. The fine jewelry designer has traveled from Florence to Puglia, Ojai, Tokyo, Mexico City, Paris and beyond. Back at home, her exceptional collections are handmade in Los Angeles in 18-karat gold. Most of Lizzie Mandler’s pieces incorporate a signature knife-edge detail but the collections also cover all of the classics, from studs to bridal to men’s and more.
Her latest collection, Liquid Gold, was inspired by a recent trip to London. Liquid Gold pushes the sculptural nature of her work into new forms, with her signature knife-edge silhouette expanding into North/South planes of gold and dancing diamonds.
“It was inspired by a recent trip to London where I spent about an hour in front of a marble sculpture from the 1800s by Hamo Thornycroft called Lot’s Wife. I am always so taken by marble sculptures featuring intricately carved tapestry, and in this case, a dress so beautifully draped and paper thin you could see the details of her knee underneath. I was so in awe of how expressive the fabric was, how fluid it felt, in such a concrete material,” Mandler shares.
