New York City’s Tallest Ice Skating Rink Is Officially Open

There’s one place that comes to mind when thinking about the most iconic spot to ice skate in New York City: in front of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree. However, there’s a new rink in town boasting incredible cityscape views that might bring some competition to this famed winter activity mecca.

Located at Edge sky deck at Hudson Yards — the tallest observatory experience in the world — Sky Skate is the highest skating rink New York City has ever seen. Presented by Dunkin’ Rewards, it opens on January 10. If you ask us, the indoor skating rink is the perfect seasonal activity for curing the wintertime blues.

Since the 1,024 sqft. indoor area is a Glice rink — which means it’s a zero-energy ecological and synthetic ice rink — visitors can glide away while taking in sweeping views of the skyline and staying warm at the same time, all in an eco-friendly manner.

By purchasing a $10 ticket, guests have access to a 30-minute skate session, complimentary skate rentals, and access to the outdoor observation deck, with its posh Champagne Bar. Although the rink is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. until mid-March, the best time to go is Thursdays and Fridays for the 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. session, which sees a live DJ perform.
