Prada has unveiled its latest gastronomic venture in Shanghai. Mi Shang Prada Rong Zhai is the collaborative creation of Prada and renowned Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai. The restaurant will open in Rong Zhai, Prada’s Shanghai residence, following a six-year restoration that reflects Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli’s deep appreciation for the city and Chinese heritage.
Reminiscent of Wong Kar Wai’s masterpieces, In the Mood for Love and Happy Together, the restaurant’s design reflects cinematic charm throughout its layout. Its name, “Mi Shang,” translates to being obsessed or captivated; elements of surrealistic romance come to life through playful mirror effects and striking color contrasts.
Situated on the second floor, the restaurant offers a fine dining experience where the menu marries Italian cuisine with a Chinese flair, available for lunch and dinner. As for the café menu, afternoon tea, a tempting selection of pastries, and a caviar experience are offered. Bridging two culinary worlds, the menu creates a flavorful dialogue that turns each meal into a cultural experience.
