This 12-Key Mansion-Style Boutique Hotel Is Just Steps Away From Anguilla’s Long Bay Beach

For nearly 10 years, Quintessence Hotel was built stone by stone from the ground up. Opened in 2018, this property (owned by American attorney Geoffrey Fieger, known for his high-profile defense of Dr. Jack Kevorkian, or ‘Dr. Death’), was inspired by the original Malliouhana Hotel, which first put Anguilla on the jet-set map. While the property itself is incredible–a grand, tropical mansion with nine rooms in the main house and an adjacent property with three additional suites–what’s inside sets it apart.

The hotel was created by artisans with museum-like quality. Haitian art and antiques fill every room, leaving walls, tables, and even outdoor spaces sights to behold. The property is home to the world’s largest Haitian art collection outside of Haiti, which was curated by Fieger. Additionally, the Q Art Gallery, located on the property, features the works of artists such as Henri Robert Bresil and Jasmin Joseph, with tags that run as high as $40,000. Guests can purchase select pieces approved by Fieger.

In addition to the art, Quintessence offers guests an equally unique stay. The nine luxury suites in the main house are each distinctly decorated with authentic artwork and named after notable Haitian artists. Each room features four-poster King beds with Hästens mattresses and Frette linens, 24/7 butler service, and unobstructed views of Long Bay Beach and the ocean. The Joseph Penthouse (which is a whopping 1494 square feet) features panoramic ocean views, a spacious terrace with plenty of seating options, a big living room and dining room, and a marble bathroom. Additionally, there are three suites (called The Quinn Suites) not located in the main house that come at lower price points, while still offering the same resort amenities and 24-hour service. The resort also features the Polo Lounge, a stylish space furnished with Ralph Lauren pieces, perfect for enjoying drinks in a more private setting as well as a secluded Meeting Room filled with an impressive collection of first-edition books.

What’s more, the dining experience at Quintessence Hotel is nothing short of exceptional. The property is home to the signature restaurant, Julien’s, a French-Caribbean fine dining concept led by Executive Chef Dominque Thevenet. From France, Chef Dominique’s creations highlight Anguilla’s seafood, which he often fishes for himself. The menu also includes a range of soups, salads, and mains including local lobster, lamb, steak, chicken, and more. Whether dining on the terrace overlooking the grounds and life-like chess set or within the intimate, dark-wood dining room, the ambiance is sophisticated yet relaxed, making it the perfect place for a romantic evening or special celebration. There’s also the Q Cellar, a wine cellar designed by Fieger that includes over 6,000 labels. Here, guests can dine, snack, and explore some of the finest wines from around the world. For a more casual experience, the hotel also offers lunch at the Coral Beach Bar, located on the sand. The menu is more relaxed and includes salads, fresh fish options, pizzas, and more.

In terms of amenities, the hotel offers a range of luxurious options. Guests can unwind at the infinity pool or jacuzzi with views of the Caribbean Sea or enjoy direct access to a semi-private beach, complete with comfortable loungers and food service. The spa provides incredible treatments including massages, facials, and manicures and pedicures, while the state-of-the-art fitness center and available yoga sessions cater to wellness-focused travelers.

Whether you’re here for the art, beach, food, or simply just an escape, this Anguilla retreat is sure to exceed your expectations.
