Set the scene.

Perhaps the main draw to the bel paese for travelers is its dynamic gastronomy. Realmuto Hospitality Group, led by Francesco Realmuto, is introducing a taste of Italy to New York City’s West Village with the debut of Realmuto, a sophisticated all-day café and restaurant.

Designed by Mariotti Studio, the space’s breezy, open layout merges modern elegance with vintage charm. Interiors feature an all-marble bar inspired by New York’s Gilded Age, high ceilings, and inviting lighting that creates a welcoming ambiance reminiscent of an Italian piazza.

Complete with a piano and tables for seated and standing guests, patrons are invited to explore, relax, and enjoy the restaurant’s extensive footprint along Seventh Avenue South.

What can we expect from the food?

Central to the café’s offerings is the pastry artistry of award-winning chef Giuseppe Zito, whose accolades include international recognition for the world’s best panettone and top-tier gelato.

Here, Zito’s pastries, baked fresh daily, include cornetti, cannoli, and bombolini, showcasing Italian tradition with a contemporary twist, bringing an exceptional level of craft rarely seen stateside.

Guests can also savor Italian bites such as tramezzini (finger sandwiches), panini, and arancini

Those seeking a more extensive dining experience should opt for a table to sample the dishes of the Ristorante at Realmuto Alta Pasticceria, helmed by Executive Chef Mauro Campanale. The menu reflects Chef Mauro’s Southern Italian roots and commitment to seasonal ingredients.

Offerings range from handmade “Tortelli alle Erbe” (buffalo ricotta and seasonal herbs filled Tortelli, leeks foam, basil oil, aceto balsamico di Modena DOP) to “Paccheri, Pomodoro, e Basilico” (homemade paccheri pasta, San Marzano sauce, basil) and a meticulously prepared “Dry-Aged Ribeye” paired with potato millefoglie.

And what about the drinks?

Few aspects of Italian life are more important than aperitivo culture, a tradition where friends gather over drinks and small bites in anticipation of dinner.

Guests can expect to find a broad selection of Italian wine, beer, and classic cocktails, allowing them to sip on Aperol spritzes and spumante (“sparkling wine”) while people-watching from outdoor tables lining the bustling streets–or indoors from behind the floor-to-ceiling window façade.
