It’s ‘Strega Nona Fall’ All Year at These Hotels

From coastal grandmothers to Charlotte York Fall to Nancy Myers mood boards, TikTok never fails to unravel a new TikTok trend. A far cry from Brat Girl Summer comes Strega Nona Fall. The iconic children’s book Strega Nona, which translates to “Grandma Witch,” centers around an Italian granny healing the town of their problems with her magic touch through a magically refilling pasta pot (a dream come true for all Italians).

Staying true to our beliefs, we conjured up the most Strega Nona-esque hotels worldwide.

Swipe to see the hotels that would heal our biggest ailment, the travel bug.

Castle Elvira (Trepuzzi, Italy)

With a bit of international media acclaim in the summer of 2022, Castle Elvira re-opened its beautifully restored giant doors following the most detailed and magnificent restoration. This fairy-tale escape in the Italian countryside opens nine rooms for guests to choose from. Each room here is unique and magical in its own right with exclusive artwork and 20th-century floor tiles, and a vast 37 acres of woodland at the door.

1898 The Post  (Ghent, Belgium)

Don’t let the medieval vibe detract from the beautiful, luxurious experience 1898 the Post offers. Situated in Ghent, this Neo-Gothic gem holds 38 rooms with large windows, high ceilings, wooden elements, and soft lights. Dark green walls enhance the overall vibes by tenfolds, so take it easy and relax at a hotel where heritage meets style meets comfort.

Kruisherenhotel Maastricht (Maastricht, Netherlands)

Located in the heart of Maastricht’s historic center, this ultra-modern 60-room hotel lived a past life as a 15th-century Kruisheren monastery. Guests have their pick from the Superior Room located in the original monastery to the ultra-luxe Kruisherensuite with a whirlpool bath and double shower.

The Qvest (Cologne, Germany)

Nestled in the heart of Cologne, lies The Qvest where neo-gothic architecture marries modern art, photography, and designs. The 38-room hotel boasts high ceilings, gothic windows, and the preservation of original architectural features. Designer and owner Michael Kaune provides guests with a gallery-like experience, with statement art and design pieces dotted all throughout the interior.

The Empress of Little Rock (Little Rock, Arkansas)

Built in 1888, this bed and breakfast allows guests to book one of the three properties on the land: the Carriage House, Cook’s Cottage, and the Hornibrook Mansion. Specifically, the Hornibrook Mansion represents ornate Victorian interiors with a touch of stately flamboyance.

Bethlen Estates (Transylvania, Romania)

Its macabre association with Dracula might scare some off, but for those with a penchant for an epic tale, this Transylvanian abode makes for a perfect setting.  This historic estate is composed of two houses and a barn open for guests to book. With amenities such as a sauna and pool, relaxation is the top priority.

Thorngrove Manor (Adelaide, South Australia)

This romantic stay looks like it came straight out of a Disney movie. With Juliet balconies and stained windows, every aspect here is mesmerizing. Inside, guests will find peeks of art and antiques from every corner of the world. Guests have the option to choose from five rooms, all fit for fairytale royalties.
