The Hip Los Angeles’ Members’ Club & Hotel Opening This Summer

This summer, a hotly-anticipated venue setting out to be the “anti-Soho House” will debut smack-dab in the beating heart of Hollywood. Meet The Aster.

Part public hotel, part private members’ club, this hybrid project is the latest addition (and first private members’ club) to the portfolio of Salt Hotels, a leading hospitality firm behind award-winning design hotels such as Hutton Brickyards in New York and Hotel Greystone in Miami Beach. According to David Bowd, The Aster’s founder and CEO, the new address promises to “break all the rules” when it opens its doors this August.

Named after the flower native to Southern California, The Aster occupies a six-story, 100-year-old music theater near the famed intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. Rather than imposing stringent members-only rules, visitors will be able to book both rooms at The Aster’s luxury hotel and tables at its restaurants. Unlike certain other clubs, phones and laptops can be used freely throughout. However, access to the rich programming of entertainment, wellness sessions, culinary experiences, and more, will be exclusive to members.

Across 95,000 square feet, The Aster’s design is imbued with glamor and sophistication. The hotel section is made up of thirty-five commodious suites, each thoughtfully laid out with workspaces and lounges. Guests are offered an exclusive peek into the membership program. Members will have 24/7 access to the club, and generous amenities included: There’s an outdoor swimming pool, multiple spots to drink and dine, a recording studio and a screening room, plus myriad spaces dedicated to health and fitness. Did we mention that there will also be a sultry cabaret lounge?

Lemon Grove will be the indoor-outdoor restaurant atop The Aster’s expansive 7,200-square-foot rooftop space. Seasonal menus developed by chef Sam Talbot (the founding Executive Chef of Montauk’s The Surf Lodge) will reflect the local bounty of Southern California’s farmers’ markets as well as the culinary influences that have made Los Angeles one of the world’s premier food destinations. Lemon Grove will also introduce the most robust non-ABV beverage program in the city.
