Seeking a cool, eco-conscious home base to hang out between wine tastings, shopping, and dining at some of the best farm-to-table restaurants in Sonoma County? Harmon Guest House is a sustainable boutique stay just steps from Healdsburg Plaza.
From the street, the hotel cuts a striking figure with its redwood-clad geometric exterior. Once inside, the emphasis on design only becomes more evident. A reception desk crafted from a fallen eucalyptus tree, huge windows that stream in natural light, Carl Hansen CH25 lounge chairs, and a bright yellow webbed wall sculpture by NorCal artist Sabine Rickenwell define the lobby. While rotating installations of contemporary local art hang on display in both public spaces and guest rooms. Everything feels very sleek and modern yet soulful with sustainability as a guiding force.
Eco efforts include a sun-shading slat system to reduce solar heat gain, LED lighting, EV-charging stations, harvesting rainwater for all irrigation needs, a solar thermal water-heating system, and water-efficient plumbing fixtures. You’ll find H2O bars with sparkling and flat purified water on every floor. Green elements extend to the design through the use of recycled and reclaimed materials, low/no VOC paints, and FSC-certified wood.
All 33 studio-style rooms have oak floors, mid-century modern furnishings, Treko hand-loomed throws, Peace Industry rugs, and either patios or balconies. If your budget allows, upgrade to one of the Founder’s Suites, which flaunt separate living and sleeping areas as well as tile-clad, open bathrooms with cast concrete vanities and giant soaking tubs. Organic toiletries and plush robes elevate the spa-like experience.
The lively indoor-outdoor rooftop lounge pours vino from many of the region’s historic family wineries and up-and-coming winemakers and mixes up stellar cocktails (try the spicy mezcal margarita). If you’re feeling peckish, definitely order a few of the shareable dishes. The shrimp ceviche tostadas, local oysters with mignonette, and Wagyu sliders are always a hit.
Looking for even more ways to unwind? Guests can also chill on the creekside deck, go for a swim in the solar-heated pool, zen out during Sunday yoga sessions, and pedal around town on the fleet of cruiser bikes.
