For anyone headed to Islamorada for the first time, Three Waters Resort and Marina, Islamorada, a Tribute Portfolio Resort is the place that sets the bar high. The drive into the property was initially unassuming, but that was my ignorance speaking. Heading through the lobby and towards my room, only then did it dawn on me how large the property was and what I was getting into the week ahead.
Located just shy of two hours from Miami, Islamorada embodies modern luxury and comfort. Say goodbye to rowdy crowds and hello to some of the bluest clear waters to come by. Cutting through the lobby are a series of guest rooms and cottages bordering the warm sand and water.
Guest rooms on the main straight are family-friendly and decorated with Florida Key’s distinct aesthetic. Warm taupes are followed by royal blues, and specks of orange, coral, and yellow mimic the beautiful sunsets guests will witness during their stay through their private balconies.
For those looking for an adult-centric vacation, the property debuted The Cove, an adult-only resort tucked away in a quieter hideaway featuring a tranquil private beach lagoon and pool. Accommodations on The Cove feature 63 king rooms and suites overlooking the mangroves and beaches just steps away.
As for activities, take your pick from ultimate relaxation or a fun day out in the water. Islamorada is dubbed the Sport Fishing Capital of the World, encouraging guests to experience an array of water-based activities to try. For the traveler needing speed, a guided jetski tour is the perfect pairing. The traveling family can try the popular “Fish Like a Local” for beginners and more advanced anglers to learn proper techniques and best practices for fishing, specifically tailored to the Keys’ landscape. Taught by an expert guests can learn fly casting, fileting fish, lobstering, and more, setting guests up for a lifetime of fishing.
After slathering a copious amount of sunscreen, the resort partnered with Bote, a premium watersports brand offering stand-up paddleboards, floats, and other water accessories for those who want to bask in the sun. Guests use these at leisure to paddleboard off the shores or lounge in the floaties at the nearby sandbar.
To explore the Islamorada just a bit more, forget the car and hop on the Rum Runner, an all-new water taxi to sail the water and explore. Keep your eyes peeled for any turtles and manatee sightings!
After a day in the water, you sure can work up an appetite. Luckily, it’s dealers’ choice from an array of culinary options. Those with a penchant for fresh seafood, head to Little Limón for fresh shucked oysters, spicy tuna tacos, and grouper katsu has your name on it. For bold Latin flavors, Mercado Morada has little bites from an Elote dip to a Shrimp & Avocado Tostada, and choices of classic quesadilla and tacos. For a slice of paradise, Islamorada Pizza Co. is serving up fresh pizza made with local ingredients. Visit the Tiki Bar–an island icon– for easy bites and try the signature RumRunner cocktail, where the drink was created. Lastly, for an indulgent treat, Lucky Twist is a 100% vegan and diary-free soft serve spot, twirling some refreshing flavors.
