Located in the heart of Mayfair, the 1 Hotel Mayfair occupies a swanky spot in one of London’s chicest neighborhoods. With 181 guest rooms and suites, the brand’s UK and European flagship made a splash when it opened this summer. It’s the first sustainable luxury hotel in the city and has sustainably sourced and recycled materials used throughout the building’s nine stories.

From the second you step into the lobby, it feels like you’ve arrived at your home away from home. A neutral yet aesthetically pleasing design is woven with nature-inspired details, including living moss walls and timber flooring from fallen trees on Windsor Estate. The cozy throws artfully strewn across the couches, wood details, and plants around every corner give the hotel a homey feeling.  Thoughtful touches around the hotel include artwork from local artisans and more than 200 different plant species.

While the property stays true to the sustainability of the 1 Hotel brand, the individual elements are what sets it apart. Around every corner, details link the property to the city it sets itself in. For example, the leafy chandelier, a nod to picnic baskets in nearby Green Park, or the reception desk created from one piece of wood from Sussex.

In addition to the cozy atmosphere, a gastronomic delight dubbed Dovetale awaits guests. Two Michelin-starred Chef Tom Sellers, helms the ground-floor restaurant. It has an à la carte menu highlighting seasonal produce and local ingredients, including a dedicated raw bar and expansive wine program. The restaurant has a Knickerbocker Glory troller, a customizable ice cream sundae made tableside.

Other food and beverage options include the Neighbours Cafe and Bar, a daytime cafe and evening cocktail bar, and Dover Yard, a cozy bar with fireplaces that overlooks a botanical courtyard and serves delicious drinks and light bites.

Onsite is also the Bamford Wellness Spa, which offers a range of treatments using products from local UK-based brand Bamford and a full-service fitness center.

If you’re planning to venture out, the best part of the hotel is it’s location. It’s just steps from Green Park and Piccadilly Circus and a short walk from the National Gallery.
