Where to Shop in Ravello: This Olive Oil Bar is #AbovePar

Tucked in-between the local pizzerias and ceramic factories in Ravello, Italy, you’ll find Gusti & Delizie. There, behind the infinite varieties and rustic chic olive oil tasting bar, you’ll see Vincenzo Di Palma–and he’ll make your afternoon.

If you’re in Ravello, you must stop at this independent shop owned by Vincenzo and Margherita for an olive oil tasting and shopping experience. While the boutique is unique, its flavors are recognized on a global level. This shop supplies the olive oil to Rao’s in New York City from this unassuming spot–but with the world’s 700 olive varieties, an experience like this will uncover individual favorites for every type of taste.

Almost immediately from one taste to the next, you’ll notice the subtleties in the ingredients and regions. Each tasting is catered to personal preferences but strategically situated for a journey on the palate that builds from mild to rich flavors.

Vincenzo is a certified wine sommelier and an expert oil taster with multiple credentials. He knows and explains the differences in olive varieties, vinegar aging processes, and the two types of lemon on the Amalfi coast. The shop was born in 2016 as a passion project for Vincenzo and Margherita, who spent her childhood among her family’s olive trees at Villa San Cosma. Their genuine passion and warmth make this experience worth seeking out on any trip to the Amalfi coast. The tasting they offer is a culinary lesson, shopping event, and romantic experience in one.

Pro-tip: walk in before a late lunch at Da Nonna Alfonso and sample a variety of olive oils and vinegars with bread. Then, ship at least 4 of your favorites home from the shop, so you can remember Ravello at home through condiments like Marsicani Olive Oil, and Villa San Cosma Rose Balsamic Vinegar Aged 5-years in Oak, and 100% Naturally-Sourced Authentic Limoncello.
