Spend NYC Summer Nights Watching Movies at The Greens at Pier 17 New York

As temperatures rise, there’s no better spot in NYC to soak up the sun than The Greens at Pier 17 New York.

Located in the Seaport, one of Manhattan’s oldest neighborhoods, The Greens is an open-air entertainment oasis in the middle of the city that hosts everything from dining to gaming to movie screenings—and even a summer concert series.

Want to catch a flick with unrivaled views of the Big Apple? Head to Seaport Cinema, NYC’s answer to a drive-in. Did we mention it’s free? Seaport Cinema is the ultimate destination to catch everything from indie films to blockbuster hits, all projected on a massive 32-foot-wide LED screen. All movies begin at 7 pm, but you’ll want to arrive early (doors open at 6 pm) to score a seat. Alternatively, bring your own picnic blankets and chairs to lay out on the turf. Snacks and drinks—boozy and non-alcoholic—are also available for purchase. Reservations open two weeks before showtimes, and are encouraged so you can be kept posted in case of inclement weather. (The cinema is entirely outdoors, after all.)

In between movie screenings, The Greens offers an array of alfresco fun. There’s The Lawns, a collection of 32 bookable mini lawns on the rooftop that can host up to eight guests. They’re equipped with chairs, a sun umbrella, and a YETI cooler to keep drinks nice and cold (reservations can be made online). Don’t fret if you arrive without a booking; you can still take advantage of the gaming lawns that have bocce ball, corn hole, and giant jenga and more. On the northeast side of The Rooftop is The Patrón Patio, a new lounge that serves up frozen tequila drinks and a slew of other cocktails. You can also grab a bite at The Restaurant, a casual eatery with two large patios.

Returning for its fourth season, the annual Summer Concert Series has more than 60 exciting shows scheduled throughout the summer, headlined by talent like Blondie, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Vance Joy, and more. That’s in addition to Seaport Sounds, a complimentary music program that will fill the Seaport streets with live music every day.

So next time you find yourself in NYC, hit up The Greens for a guaranteed good time.
