This Popular NYC Italian Restaurant Adds a Laid-Back Flair to Midtown Manhattan

Rosemary’s began its journey in NYC’s West Village in 2012 and has since become a celebrated Italian restaurant known for its authentic cuisine comprised of ingredients from its farm-to-table rooftop garden. Having expanded to several new spots, including an outpost in Stuytown, the eatery has recently debuted its latest location in Midtown—bringing its neighborhood charm and laid-back ambiance to this typically buttoned-up Manhattan area.

The venue at 825 Third Avenue near 50th Street presents a seamless indoor-outdoor space complemented by an al fresco sidewalk café. Amidst this casual dining atmosphere, guests will feel transported to a place far removed from NYC’s core, offering a breath of fresh air amid the hectic, skyscraper-crowded surroundings. Light-lacquered wooden tables adorned with tabletop plants and the brand’s signature sage green shade create a bright atmosphere throughout its interiors.

The garden-fresh ethos influences the menu, which features handmade pasta, warm loaves of bread, and crisp leafy salads categorized under Italian-labeled segments. From the ‘Aperitivi’ section, the must-try Maplebrook Burrata—served with marinated peppers and drizzled with sweet honey—and the Rosemary Focaccia—dusted with butter and flaky sea salt—are excellent starter options. Drink-wise, we’d start with their classic Rosemary Spritz. Its presentation in a sizeable wine glass, plus its vibrant Aperol orange hue, whisks you away to the dreamy thought of an Italian summer.

Since the vegetables are naturally sourced from the local McEnroe Organic Farm in Millerton, New York, consider ordering something from the ‘Verdure’ or ‘Insalate’ selections. We recommend the Chopped Salad, which comes with a medley of toppings such as olives, sun-dried tomatoes, crispy chickpeas, artichokes, and ricotta salata almonds, and the Grilled Asparagus, accompanied by a squeeze of lemon juice, melted parmesan cheese, and mint leaflets.

Although Rosemary’s offers plenty of non-pasta options, it would be a shame to leave without ordering at least one pasta dish for the table—and for our gluten-intolerant diners, don’t fret, as they offer gluten-free noodles, too. If you want more than one, here’s our suggested lineup: the Rigatoni (arrabbiata sauce, burrata, and basil); the Sunflower Ravioli (green asparagus & ricotta filled pasta, white asparagus fondue, and bottarga); and the Orecchiette (homemade sausage, broccoli rabe, Fresno chili, and parmigiano reggiano aged for 24 months).

After the savory indulgence, you can satisfy your sweet tooth with dessert. If you want to go full Italian, sip on an espresso paired with the decadent yet light Chocolate Torta, topped with a dollop of whipped cream and lemon shavings to add a zest of citrus flavor.

If you find yourself in Midtown craving affordable Italian cuisine that doesn’t require booking months ahead, Rosemary’s Midtown is the casual yet refined eatery that won’t fail you.
