The Los Angeles Fires have destroyed over 40,00 acres and over 12,000 structures as of January 13. The devastating fires threaten beloved landmarks and mom-and-pop shops that have served their communities for years. Below, Hotels Above Par compiled multiple local businesses to donate to support the establishments’ next step to rebuilding and supporting their staff in the trying times.

The oceanfront restaurant burned down on January 8, 2025, during the height of the fires. “Our employees, the lifeblood of Moonshadows, are grappling with the loss of not just their workplace but the cherished connection with customers they came to know as family,” reads the GoFundMe page, “Your donations will go directly to assisting our staff—many of whom have worked with us for years and even decades—as they rebuild their lives, support their families, and navigate this devastating loss.”

The Reel’s Inn served Malibu for 36 years, serving fresh seafood along the Pacific Coast Highway. The owners, Andy and Teddy Leonard, are prioritizing raising money to support their staff amidst the fires, hoping to earn up to three months in wages, benefits, and support. “Together, we can ensure that if and when our doors reopen, our team will be there, ready to welcome you all back with open arms,” says the owners on their GoFundMe page.

Rosenthal Wine Bar

Rosenthal Wine Bar, a cherished indoor-outdoor wine cellar along Malibu’s Pacific Coast Highway, served as a beacon of light during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, offering a safe, social respite. Connected to its own estate vineyard and winery, it was a place where visitors could relax, enjoy good company, and create lasting memories. Tragically, the bar was lost in the Pacific Palisades fire, but its staff remains safe and optimistic about the future.

Owner Paulo Guasp opened the second outpost of Amara Kitchen in Altadena in 2021. Quickly embraced by the Palisades community, the restaurant became a neighborhood favorite for its all-day breakfast menu, freshly baked in-house pastries, and extensive selection of coffee, tea, and fresh juices. Tragically, the establishment was lost in the Eaton Fire but remains hopeful about rebuilding in the future.

The Little Red Hen Coffee Shop

Perched at the corner of Fair Oaks Avenue and Mariposa, the Little Red Hen Coffee Shop was a cherished neighborhood café. A cornerstone of ‘Black Altadena,’ it was beloved by the area’s Black families, churches, and businesses. The diner-style eatery offered warm, home-cooked meals in a welcoming atmosphere, with an inviting outdoor deck facing Altadena’s wondrous mountains—perfect for a morning coffee shared with friends. The family-owned business hopes to rebuild and seeks support from the community.

Side Pie

Side Pie started as a pandemic project, evolving into a community hub, taking shape as a pizzeria. This neighborhood joint was where you could expect a smile no matter the day, and the owners would know each face walking in. This GoFundMe is focused on raising funds to support its staff, or as the owners prefer, friends– and to rebuild once the dust settles.

Minik Market

Opened in May 2024, Minik Market quickly became an up-and-coming neighborhood gem. Known for its California bodega-style deli sandwiches, fresh produce, and grab-and-go goods, it served locals and hosted pop-ups for small businesses before being tragically destroyed in the Eaton Fire. Minik Market hopes to raise funds to support its staff, pay vendors, and plan its next steps toward redeveloping.
