It’s impossible not to have a good time in vibrant South Beach Miami – especially when your home base for your getaway is The Goodtime Hotel.
This boutique hotel on Washington Avenue sets the tone for the entire block –– and rightfully so, as the collaborative endeavor was dreamt up by none other than Pharrell and Dave Grutman of Groot Hospitality. The duo worked alongside designer Ken Fulk, architect Morris Adjmi Architects, and landscape architect Raymond Jungles, Inc. to create an experience that perfectly embodies Miami’s nostalgic eclecticism.
Upon arrival, top hits and all of your favorite throwbacks thump through speakers at the grandiose entryway, letting you know that not only have you arrived at the right place, but THE place. Walk through the airy atrium lined with tall potted plants and a small yet audacious fountain, complete with a marble statue and color-changing lights. The lobby is more of a lounge, with custom surrealist wallpaper, glass lamps with tasseled shades on every surface, and plush pastel-and-palm tree-covered couches and armchairs. Naturally, every stay begins with a toast of champagne.
The 266 guest rooms range from Queen beds to a handful of suites, and are snug yet thoughtful. Velvet headboards, brass finishes, and leopard-print benches set against views of Biscayne Bay or the Atlantic Ocean provide for Instagram-worthy sunrises, or sunsets – if you opt to use the blackout curtains.
Put in work at the indoor/outdoor fitness center – with Peloton equipment – or the bespoke Library, with peach-hued sofas and oak bookshelves. Restaurant and 30,000 square foot pool club Strawberry Moon is not to be missed. Scalloped bar seating, pastel tiling, and pinstriped awnings draw inspiration from mid-century Caribbean and Central American resort towns (like Havana and Acapulco, during their hey-days) while serving up an array of craft cocktails and classic Mediterranean for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
At the end of the day, let the hallway carpets woven with mock wet footprints lead you back to your abode, and lather up with the Ortigia bath amenities. Then, use the pink rotary dial phone to order more towels – or a midnight snack.
