Skiing, Sushi, and Swimming: Pendry Park City is Utah’s New “It” Hotel

A buzzing bar and rooftop pool sound like the makings of a sceney L.A. hotel. But, what if we told you that was happening in 30-degree weather with skiers zipping down the mountain in the background? Yes, Pendry Hotels & Resorts just opened Pendry Park City, marking the brand’s first year-round mountain resort located in Canyons Village at Park City Mountain.

Even though it’s only been open a few weeks, the 153-key property has quickly become a destination in the already popular ski hub. That’s thanks to the way it effortlessly straddles an outdoor lover’s passion and off-mountain offerings. And it’s all housed in a high-design space that steps away from the traditional alpine lodge aesthetic and instead embraces refined contemporary mountain living.

Upon entering the lobby, you’ll be greeted by a soaring two-sided fireplace. One side is surrounded by modern yet cozy seating options (perfect for relaxing after a day of outdoor adventure). Or, grab a drink and elevated bar snacks on the other side at Aprés Pendry, where regular live music sets the laidback vibe, and the smell of truffle fries permeates the air.

More of that casual luxury is found upstairs, where the heated rooftop pool and the Pool House lounge reside. Even with snow falling and temperatures dropping, it’s not surprising to see groups of people enjoying a dip with a drink in hand and grabbing a bite of classic American fare.

And even if you don’t spend the night in one of the many rooms, suites, or apartment-like residences (up to four-bedroom pads are available), it’s worth a visit just for the food. Kita is the resort’s signature Japanese steakhouse restaurant. Order up inventive sushi, ramen, and the A5 Waygu Japanese beef, all of which is flown in daily from Japan. Meanwhile, the onsite pizza parlor Disco Pizza is a more relaxed setting where you can grab a beer, milkshakes, and hand-tossed pizza while plating vintage games under a spinning disco ball.

Of course, this is all set in the heart of the largest mountain in the country, making it a prime ski-in/ski-out spot that gives guests easy access to over 7,300 acres of skiable terrain. There’s even an onsite rental shop, Compass, that will valet all your equipment.

After all that time outside or drinking fireside, some pampering is in order. Thankfully, Spa Pendry is available for the ultimate apres-ski experience. The full-service wellness retreat has six private rooms where guests can indulge in mountain-themed massages and skin treatments like the High Altitude Glow facial.

Bottom line: Pendry Park City is bound to make anyone appreciate the alpine life.
