Located about two hours from NYC, The Catskills have become a popular vacation spot thanks to its natural beauty, artsy attractions, and eclectic shopping and dining options. Unsurprisingly, the area is also home to a slew of cool properties, attracting well-heeled travelers, city slickers, and well-to-do suburbanites.
From luxe, design-forward inns to rustic-chic motels — heavy emphasis on the “chic” — read on for a few of our favorite properties in The Catskills.
Piule
Architectural enthusiasts and nature lovers alike will appreciate a stay at the ultra-modern Piaule. Instead of traditional rooms and suites, there are 24 private cabins nestled amongst the trees. Each offers massive floor-to-ceiling windows, handcrafted furniture, and specially curated decor. There’s also an on-site spa — complete with a plunge pool with expansive mountain views — and an eatery.
Eastwind
This Scandinavian-inspired hideout is complete with custom furnishings, stunning decor, and all-around cozy vibes. Choose from 26 accommodations, including several A-frame glamping units and spacious suites complete with private outdoor decks. Guests can also lounge in the barrel-shaped sauna, partake in outdoor yoga, roast s’mores, snuggle in the fireplace, play a board game, and sip cocktails.
Callicoon Hills
Callicoon Hills (re)debuted this June and has a fascinating history as a 100-year-old resort. It offers rustic-inspired accommodations equipped with ultra-comfy beds, Malin & Goetz bath amenities, walk-in closets, and bespoke furnishings. Grab a latte or frozen Aperol spritz — best enjoyed in the outdoor courtyard — before taking a dip in the swimming pool. Conover Club, the on-site restaurant, is also not to be missed.
Kenoza Hall
This 22-room hotel is amongst the area’s most luxurious. In terms of accommodations, expect modern and Victorian-inspired accents like 19th-century wooden flooring, sleigh beds, and plush velvet seating. The property itself spans 55 acres and features an on-site restaurant, a tranquil spa, and plenty of indoor and outdoor space for lounging. Guests also have exclusive access to Kenoza Lake.
