This Boutique Hotel in a Charming Pink Building Is Mexico City’s Hidden Gem

In the heart of Mexico City’s trendy Roma Norte neighborhood stands a charming bright pink building with a pair of double doors. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think it was the residence of one of the many artistic types that call Roma home; after all, the Juliet balconies, stone, and ironwork look like the ideal backdrop against which to write a novel or complete a canvas. But in fact, this is the stunning Casa Goliana, an eight-room boutique hotel that will feel like your home away from home during your time in Mexico’s capital.

The airy, bright entrance is the perfect foray into your stay at Casa Goliana. Tall ceilings and plenty of natural light make this a hotel that you actually want to spend time in rather than a cursory place to rest your head. Indeed, as a cross between a bed and breakfast and a hotel, Casa Goliana places a big emphasis on the casa – for example, check-in takes place at a desk with two chairs and a comfortable couch that feels like it could be your living room (if you were an artiste, of course).

As for the rooms, each of the eight is unique in its own way, but all incorporate certain nostalgic elements with modern must-haves. For example, you’ll find embroidered easy chairs, clawfoot tubs, and mid-century nightstands combined with smart TVs, plush robes, and ridiculously comfortable beds. Rooms also feature comfortable sitting and working space, so whether you’re in the city for business or pleasure, you’ll find your needs well met at this property. Relaxing neutral tones make this a perfect place to unwind after a long day of sightseeing, and the unique artwork that adorns the walls of both the rooms and the common spaces makes for a welcome sight to start or end your day.

We also love the beautifully tiled (or wooden) bathrooms and the fluffy, sumptuous towels. And once you’ve completed your morning routine, there’s nothing quite like heading downstairs to grab some included (simple) breakfast, enjoyed either in a common dining room or in a charming outdoor interior patio.

Little touches also make this hotel feel particularly intimate – there’s generally a plate of fresh apples left in your room, and you’re always greeted by a friendly smile and welcome hand upon entrance and exit. Even email responses from the front desk are warm and inviting, making it feel as though you’re visiting an old friend after far too long rather than staying at a hotel.

While there’s no gym in the hotel itself, you can access the gym across the street for a day fee – we like to think of this as an encouragement to get out and explore the city. After all, with Casa Goliana’s enviable location, you’re only steps away from some of the best dining and culture the city has to offer. And although there’s no on-site restaurant for your lunch or dinner options, the welcoming staff are always ready to recommend one of their favorite local haunts.

So, the next time you’re in Mexico City and looking for a brief respite from all the buzz the metropolis has to offer, Casa Goliana is a great place to remind yourself that when it comes to lodgings, sometimes the best things really do come in the smallest packages.
