Tucked away in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, this cozy Mid-century cottage is a short, two-hour drive from the hustle and bustle of The Big Apple. While the home has undergone major renovations, the owners have maintained its original character and charm, including its distinct A-frame shape.
All in all, the vacation rental – which is located in a secluded gated community called The Hideout – exudes warm, welcoming, and inviting vibes. The relaxing ambiance is evident from the moment you walk through the doors.
Escape to this dreamy winter wonderland oasis to find a spacious kitchen equipped with hardwood flooring, a rustic-inspired farmhouse sink, and a table that sits up to six guests. The master suite is equipped with its own entrance for extra privacy. The second bedroom, which can be found upstairs, boasts uninterrupted forest views and plenty of sun-drenched space to unwind, thanks to the four skylights. Should you need more space to sleep, head to the basement, where you’ll find the third bedroom.
Design highlights include rustic-inspired wooden paneling, antique furnishings and accents (think: gold lamps on nightstands, patterned tile work in the bathroom), and a beautiful cream color palette. You can also expect plenty of greenery, reading nooks and seating areas (the upstairs loft area is the perfect place to take it all in!), and plush throw pillows and blankets. The fireplace in the living room – which is flanked by posh plaid-patterned chairs and a comfy cream couch – is ideal for chatting, playing board games, and napping. Our favorite feature? The deep-soaking tub, which is strategically placed in front of a large floor-to-ceiling window.
If you can bear the cold weather – be sure to bring your winter clothes! – you’ll want to spend some time out on the expansive back deck, where you can cozy up by the fire pit and sip spiked hot cocoa. Out in front, there’s a wrap-around bench, which is perfect for mingling and stargazing.
