This Family-Owned Boutique Hotel in Positano Checks All the Boxes

The Amalfi Coast is a place close to so many of our hearts. Whether you are planning a honeymoon or babymoon or are simply dreaming of visiting this magical part of the world, choosing where to stay is an important choice. Luckily, we have a hidden gem that is worth putting on your list. The Hotel Poseidon Positano is a family-owned boutique hotel that checks all the boxes for the luxury traveler looking for an authentic experience.

Located in the heart of Positano and accessible by car, which, if you have seen any of the TikTok content of tourists lugging their suitcases up steep steps, is a bigger perk than you may realize. The Hotel Poseidon Positano has 48 rooms and suites, and many books out a year in advance, with return guests locking in their favorites as soon as possible for the next season. However, there really isn’t a bad room on the property, they all have amazing views, large windows, or private balconies, and most have all three!

Start each day with a breakfast that is not only delicious but also about as picture-perfect as it gets. Sit outside on the terrace and soak up that Amalfitana sun while sipping a sumptuous cappuccino and munching on a crispy Sfogliatella, a local pastry made with a tangy ricotta filling and layers of wafer-thin pastry, which resembles a seashell, after which it is named.

Afterward, take the hotel car out for a spin along the famous Amalfi Drive for more of the views we all go to this part of the world to enjoy. There is a vintage VW Beetle available for complimentary guest use, but there is only one, so book a time to use it when you check-in. Know that the car is a manual transmission, and you must drive yourself.

The hotel has an outdoor pool, a fine dining restaurant, and a casual snack bar. So, there is lots to do on the property, but because the hotel is located in the center of everything that Positano has to offer, make time to take a stroll through the winding streets. But beware, there are lots of steps so wear comfortable shoes! Sneakers are a must on the Amalfi Coast.

When you come back from an afternoon exploring, find a seat on the terrace and soak up the sunset with a beautiful aperitivo. Their cocktail list is seasonal, so ask your server what they recommend; the team is always trying to use fresh, local fruits, herbs, and other ingredients to indulge in the resident flavors. Also, this is Southern Italy, so cocktail hour comes with a feast of complimentary snacks, bites, and more! I recommend making this your dinner one night and booking a table at the fine dining restaurant another night. No need to rush to a formal dinner when you have views, cocktails, bites, and (hopefully) wonderful company to keep you occupied.

Enjoying these views with a spritz in hand is what traveling is all about.
