While NYC may have the fictional Blair Waldorf, Mexico City has the very real Kitzia Mitre, star of the Netflix reality show, Made in Mexico. HAP caught up with the in-the-know, trendsetting socialite to get her suggestions on where to explore when in Mexico. ⬇️
Polanco
The epicenter of ritzy culture and the backdrop of many Made in Mexico episodes, Polanco is a high-end, fast-paced neighborhood in the heart of Mexico City. It’s home to excellent shopping (Kitzia herself is a former fashion designer) and dining, like Rest Quintonil and Pujol. Presidente Intercontinental Mexico City, featured in episode 5 of the show, makes for a convenient home base, as will the new boutique Campos Polanco, slated to open this winter.
Bosques de las Lomas
Away from the hustle and bustle is upscale, residential Bosques; it’s safer and quieter than many other parts of CDMX, yet still within the city limits. One unexpected draw? It’s home to some of the best nightclubs in town. An ideal night out might include dinner at Nobu and partying with celebs at SENS Mexico before crashing next door at Live Aqua Mexico City.
Centro Histórico
Mexico City has fantastic architecture, and El Centro is the place to find it. DIY your own walking tour down Paseo de la Reforma and towards the Zócalo, CDMX’s main square, and Small Luxury Hotels property Downtown Mexico by Grupo Habita; it’s housed inside a historic palace and featured on episode 3 of the show.
Bosque de Chapultepec
Mexico City offers a surprising amount of green space; the most significant is Chapultepec, the city’s 1,600 acre park (more than double the size of Central Park). Castillo de Chapultepec, a hilltop castle in the center of the park, cannot be missed. Fascinating history and breathtaking views await.
Acapulco
Mexico City is landlocked, so when Chilangos want to escape to the beach, they head to Acapulco. It’s common for Mexico’s elite to rent or own a private home, but if you’d rather stay at a hotel, Banyan Tree Cabo Marques is one of the nicest. Be sure to watch the famed La Quebrada Cliff Divers.
