Brand new and bold, this Banyan Tree has major pizazz. Its sumptuous suites have metallic decor, burnt orange velvet couches and mirrors galore. Its 28th-floor Asian restaurant Vertigo has incredible views of Doha’s lights and even better dumplings.

Inside the National Museum of Qatar, Alain Ducasse’s ode to Qatari cuisine is as refined as it is tasty. Sit on the outdoor terrace to take in the museum’s striking architecture and gleaming West Bay. Oh, and save room for dessert.

Reminiscent of a Mediterranean winery on a hill, this Levante restaurant serves a set menu with more dishes than you can count. Everything is traditional, from hummus to baba ganoush to lamb; just don’t fill up on the pita.

National Museum of Qatar
The look of its surreal exterior, designed by architect Jean Nouvel and inspired by a local desert rose, is worth the visit alone. After plenty of pictures, step inside to learn about Qatar’s history, flora, fauna and culture.
Katara Cultural Village
Stroll along the beach, past cafes, restaurants and modern works of street art in this cultural neighborhood. Test the acoustics in the amphitheater, marvel at the mosaics on the mosque and get lost in the hidden alleys of this artsy and eclectic area.
Dune Bashing
Let some air out of the tires and go sailing through the sand outside Doha. Numerous companies like 365 Adventures take people out of the city for a daring drive in the dunes. Fasten your seatbelts!
