A Stunning New Hotel Opened at France’s Palace of Versailles

The Palace of Versailles is arguably one of the world’s most opulent — if not *the* most opulent attractions — and now, you can actually sleep on-site.

Airelles Château de Versailles, Le Grand Contrôle, located on the palace grounds, debuted in June 2021. From the period-style furnishings and manicured gardens to the intricate interiors and personalized butler service, the property is truly fit for royalty.

The hotel itself is housed in a 1681-era structure that’s nothing short of show-stopping. It comprises 14 regal rooms and suites, each lavishly and distinctly decorated. Expect restored furnishings, artwork, dazzling chandeliers, and eye-catching antiques.

Other luxe amenities include an on-site gourmet eatery helmed by acclaimed chef Alain Ducasse, as well as the on-site Valmont spa, which is complete with a 50-foot indoor pool and hamman. We’d be remiss not to mention that the spa boasts iconic views of the garden’s famous Orangerie, where you’ll find a variety of fruit trees.

Take your trip to the next level with one of the hotel’s bucket-list-worthy add-on experiences. These include private access to the Hall of Mirrors, a private opera performance, an intimate dining experience (complete with a string quartet!) in Louis XV’s daughters’ apartment, and more.

However, your stay won’t come cheap — rates start at a staggering $1,767 per night — but, if you appreciate the finer things in life, a trip here is worth every penny. Butler service, breakfast, and afternoon tea service — as well as private tours of the palace, Trianon, and the Queen’s Hamlet — are all included in your hotel stay. Guests also gain unlimited access to the 2,000-plus acres of gardens. Don’t feel like exploring it all on foot? Drive around in a golf cart or electric boat (also included).
