These Are the Coolest Rooftop Pools in New York City

The dog days are just beginning in New York City, meaning we need to find a refreshing swimming pool to dip into stat. When the summer heat simmers the city streets, we’re spending our days catching some rays and relaxing poolside at these dazzling “Big Apple” rooftop lidos.

Equinox Hotel New York

Level up your lap game or take a leisurely dip at Equinox Hotel New York’s 25-yard pool. Situated on an outdoor terrace overlooking the city skyline and Hudson River, the indoor and outdoor pools are both filled with saltwater and are open all year round. During the summer months, cabanas can be booked for a whole day at a cost. Outdoor cold plunge ice baths are also available for use during the summer season.

The William Vale

Deemed the longest outdoor hotel pool in NYC, The William Vale’s sparkling aqua-blue swimming lido is a chic spot to spend your days. Its premiere location in Brooklyn provides spectacular views of the NYC skyline while lounging in exclusive cabanas and plush poolside daybeds. Plus, limited day passes are available for non-hotel guests if you’re just a regular New York City resident.

The Williamsburg Hotel

A stylish Williamsburg neighborhood haunt, The Williamsburg Hotel hosts a luxe rooftop pool and bar that’s the place to see and be seen. While pool bookings must be reserved in advance, non-guest walk-ins to the groovy open-air bar are welcome from 12 p.m. to close. FYI: live DJ performances often bring in enlivened crowds.

The Dominick Hotel

Situated amongst SoHo’s high-rise buildings, The Dominick Hotel’s sleek Islamorada tile oasis is an ideal spot to escape the city heat. Bounce back and forth from dunking into the refreshing rooftop pool and the indoor-outdoor El Takoy for Hawaiian-inspired street food, including Kalua Pork tacos, along with rum, tequila, and mezcal cocktails.

JIMMY at ModernHaus SoHo

Imagine swimming among the skyscrapers. The rooftop pool atop ModernHaus SoHo allows city goers to do just that. Take the elevator up to this tranquil oasis for a refreshing dip, then lay out on one of the sunbeds and soak up views of New York City. Once the clock strikes “afternoon hours,” sip cocktails from JIMMY, the hotel’s acclaimed lounge.

1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

Located among the posh residential area of Brooklyn Heights, the sustainable luxury 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge boasts unparalleled views of the East River, New York Harbor, the Brooklyn Bridge, as well as the Lower Manhattan skyline from their outdoor rooftop pool. Reclaimed wood elements are accented with verdant plants growing along the exterior concrete walls.

The Rockaway Hotel + Spa

Next to Rockaway Beach in Queens, this strand-proximate stay is perfect for a weekend. Situated on the main floor of The Rockaway Hotel + Spa, the outdoor pool here has breathed new life into the surrounding neighborhood. Upbeat music pulsates through the speakers, while friends and locals gather along striped lounge chairs beneath white linen umbrellas. Cabanas are available to book throughout the summer and offer intimate seating options for up to eight people.

Hotel Indigo Williamsburg

A new pool club quietly opened on the fourth-floor terrace of Hotel Indigo Williamsburg earlier this summer. Open to hotel guests and ResortPass members with limited walk-in availability, the Pool Deck offers spectacular views of the Brooklyn skyline. Tatau, the new lounge, fuses South Pacific and French Polynesian-inspired bites and drinks. Grab a tropical cocktail then spend the day poolside, perched on one of the plush sun chairs.
