This Boutique Hotel Offers Gorgeous Views of Madrid’s Most Famous Park

Before becoming one of Madrid’s most prestigious park-side stays, Hotel Palacio Del Retiro, an Autograph Collection stay, was an aristocratic residence. Constructed in the early 20th century, the 50-room boutique hotel feels like a private family home that’s retained its original details, including Frescoes on the walls throughout the property from artist Julio Romero de Torres.

Other historic features include the grand staircase, which has gorgeous stained glass windows by the renowned Maumèjean company, alongside tiles from Talavera that adorn the walls throughout. Many of the rooms onsite offer views of the park and have details like marble fireplaces, wooden floors, and sleek, contemporary furniture. However, the rooms on the second and third floors are the most noteworthy. For instance, the Presidential Suite on the second floor occupies the former library and feels like walking back in time from the moment you step into it.

With a location within the Jerónimos district, it’s across the road from Madrid’s ‘Central Park’ and is just a quick stroll away from the Prado and other major museums in the city. However, you’re still far enough away from the main action that you’ll still have no noise and lots of privacy.

The hotel has a lovely buffet, everything from ibérico ham rolls to pastries, fruit, and yogurts for breakfast. Smoothies, juices, and other beverages are available alongside an a la carte menu. It’s an incredible way to start your day in the Spanish city.

When craving a quick bite, the onsite bar, dubbed The Suite Bar, serves great cocktails and tapas. It also hosts flamenco performances and live music events all the time, so it’s worth checking out the schedule. The adjoining restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with a menu that includes line-caught hake, delicious salads, and perfectly cooked steaks. If you feel like ordering in, the property offers 24-hour room service.

Hotel Palacio Del Retiro is the perfect option for a centrally located stay near Madrid’s most famous sites. With its deep history, proximity to the park, and chic surroundings, it’s a lovely place to take in the beauty of Madrid.
