The Hottest Boutique Hotel Openings in 2024

2024 is flush with exciting boutique hotel openings—and these are our favorites.

Hotel Willa (Taos, New Mexico)

Taos is one of the USA’s most underrated ski destinations. The New Mexican town doesn’t receive the throngs of crowds associated with more popular wintertime destinations such as Aspen and Park City. Taos’ soon-to-open 51-key Hotel Willa will be the area’s premier boutique stay, equipped with an indoor-outdoor restaurant and bar. Originally a motel constructed in the 1960s, its pueblo-tinged aesthetic and scenic views are a nod to its surroundings.

Silvestre Nosara (Nosara, Costa Rica)

Americans have an affinity for Costa Rica—and it isn’t hard to understand why: The Central American nation has many scenic beaches, endless flora- and fauna-populated rainforests, and a reputation for being Central America’s safest country. Opening in January 2024, Silvestre Nosara naturally collates the magic of a hotel with the privacy of one’s Costa Rican vacation home: a sole nine master residences, including a four-bedroom rooftop penthouse, suffuse the blueprint here. And on-brand with Costa Rica’s ethos, you better believe there’s a robust effort towards creating a sustainable place, from the design to the guest programming honoring the surrounding environment.

Santo Mine (Santorini, Greece)

Santorini’s worldwide allure stems from the Greek isle’s whitewashed edifices cascading down calderas into the piercingly blue Aegean Sea. Spring 2024 will see the opening of the brand-new Santo Mine, a 37-suite boutique hotel in Santorini’s most talked-about town, Oia. The icing on the cake: each accommodation has a private pool or jacuzzi staring out at the captivating Ammoudi Bay.

Casa Loma (Laguna Beach, California)

Laguna Beach is a Southern California seaside town known for its luxurious homes perched atop hills looking out at the Pacific, plus its charming locus featuring a medley of art galleries, cute boutiques, and upscale restaurants. A jewel overlooking the beach and Catalina Island in the distance, the 70-key Casa Loma will debut in the summer of 2024, following a thorough renovation. Marc & Rose Hospitality and award-winning design firm Electric Bowery spruce up the interiors with the evocative bohemian aura found in pockets of Laguna Beach. The presumed design agenda employs Mallorca’s relaxed feel with California’s coastal energy: a soothing ocean-inspired palette and seafaring furnishings like built-in desks, sofas, and case goods taking on sinuous, wavelike forms.

Casa Neos (Miami, Florida)

Miami’s Casa Neos’ conception sees it as a day- and night-time Mediterranean oasis with skyline views and an idyllic placement alongside the city’s eponymous river. Spring 2024 is when the multi-faceted project is due to open: a boutique hotel, a members-only beach club, a signature restaurant, and a zingy rooftop bar come with it.

Soho House São Paulo (São Paulo, Brazil)

International members club & hospitality empire Soho House will open its doors in São Paulo in the spring of 2024, making it the brand’s second Latin American outpost. In addition to a 36-key boutique hotel (nonmembers can stay here, too), a rooftop pool & bar, plus members-only restaurant and club spaces complete the floorplan. Avenida Paulista—one of Brazil’s most famous streets (the São Paulo Museum of Art is here)—homes the building, where it breathes new life into an old maternity ward of an erstwhile hospital: Brazilian-sourced furniture & art smothers spaces, contributing to a larger stylistic vision centered around Brazilian Modernism and the city’s Portuguese pedigree.

The Store (Oxford, England)

A 50-minute journey from London, the English countryside town of Oxford’s iconic Boswells Department Store will re-debut in 2024 as a 101-room boutique hotel, The Store. Rooms sport plush velvet headboards, exceedingly comfortable king-size beds, generous bathrooms, and unique artwork. The hotel’s restaurant, Treadwell, is dubbed as “untraditionally British” and offers a menu with sustainably sourced produce and infusions of local culinary fare. If you need us next summer, you can catch us at the rooftop bar, enjoying cocktails with a view of the city and its environs.

Kotiyagala Luxury Villas (Yala, Sri Lanka)

And now off to Asia. March 2024 will see the opening of Kotiyagala Luxury Villas in Sri Lanka: an environmentally conscious hotel entranced in the island country’s Yala region. Nature runs through the veins of this seven-acre estate: elevated rooms with private swimming pools blend in with the resident jungle, and masterminded architecture allows flora and fauna to thrive with minimum external intrusion to wildlife (if you’re lucky, you might see a leopard, elephant, or sloth, among other animals).
