This Luxe and Iconic Lake Como Hotel Is Perfect for Your Next Italy Trip

Lake Como is nothing short of a dream. It might possibly be the most romantic location on earth, with its lakeside villages, mountains that soar high, and abundance of villas that fringe its curvaceous shoreline. It isn’t hard to figure out why George & Amal Clooney have a vacation house here.

One of the best hotels in Lake Como is Grand Hotel Tremezzo. For more than a century, sybarites from near and far have flocked here in search of the ultimate Italian escape.

An elegant and stately Art Nouveau décor packs the history-rich premises. Communal spaces such as the exquisite lobby and the colorfully-furnished Sala Musica right next to it inject vibrance into the hotel’s personality.

Let’s start with the hotel’s private dock that fronts the hotel, where guests can lay lakeside on a chaise or swim in the floating pool. It’s the Lake Como fantasy you’ve been craving.

There are 84 guestrooms & suites here, each looking out towards the onsite park or Lake Como. If you’re in the mood to splurge, the Rooftop Corner Suite, with its floor-to-ceiling window and terrace featuring a whirlpool tub, is luxe perfection. But, if you really want to go full-throttle, book the hotel’s Villa Sola Cabiati, comprising a lake-fringing palace with six stunning suites, a heated outdoor pool, and an Italian garden.

Five restaurants populate the hotel, from the lauded La Terrazza Gualtiero Marchesi, which pairs high-echelon Italian cuisine with jaw-dropping views of Lake Como, to T Pizza, a pizzeria that’s simple and exceedingly delicious, and Giacomo al Lago, the hotel’s posh lakeside seafood restaurant.

The onsite T Spa tantalizes guests with its range of Santa Maria Novella treatments and personalized rituals. Those looking to indulge in pampering can do so with The Heat Experience: a body- and temperature-immersing program equipping a Turkish Bash, Mediterranean steam room, lake-facing sauna, and ice fountain; the objective is to feel the effects of therapeutic heat on the mind & body. The infinity pool is a nice plus.

Also on the menu here is a clay tennis court situated amid the exquisite parkland adjacent to the hotel — playing a match with this winning view of the lake, mountains, and villages is mesmerizing, to say the least.
