This Elite Hotel Brand’s Manhattan Jazz Club Is One of NYC’S Classiest Live Music Venues

Anything Aman is due to be incredible, from the five-star accommodations to the top-line service. The new Aman New York is a dream and a half, needless to say. But today, we’re not here to talk about the lauded hotel itself, but rather the hidden jazz club underneath it.

The Jazz Club at Aman New York sources inspiration from the illicit energy of America’s prohibition era. A secret entrance on West 56th Street ushers guests into an unseemly hallway leading downstairs to the venue: a 3,000-square-foot space equipping some of live music’s best acoustics. Industry pros compare the sound system to the likes of the Rose Theatre and Lincoln Center. In conjunction with over 150 loudspeakers and microphones, the space’s advanced digital signal processors actively adjust the sound signature of the room to elevate guest and performer experience. Conversations between diners at the same table remain clear and distinct, while surrounding voices and ambient noise are softly blurred to reduce impact.

Jean-Michel Gathy’s innovative design ensures every seat and angle in the audience provides clear sight lines of the performance.

Center stage spotlights a 1969 Steinway baby grand piano. It serves as the perfect instrument to accompany the various forthcoming jazz artists and the club’s very own house band, who perform several times a week and comprise a full ensemble and palpably energetic lead singer.

When it comes to posh snacks, The Jazz Club offers delights such as beef tartare, pasta, ahi spicy tuna, lobster tartines, and hallmark truffled grilled cheese sandwiches. Alongside an extensive wine and champagne list you will find a cocktail menu with libations drawing inspiration from 12 of Aman’s global destinations: the Indonesian sanctuary of Amanjiwo’s drink features pandan-infused mezcal and orange oil, whereas Amanemu in Japan’s namesake concoction suffuses sake and shisho bitters.

To sum it all up, even though it has an unassuming entrance, this jazz club as a whole is exceedingly assuming: it matches the high-quality caliber the Aman brand exemplifies throughout their various hospitality havens.
