It’s Above Par: Revelry Brings Inspiration from Around to Tablescapes and Spaces

For Purvi Padia, home is a feeling. The New York City based interior designer and founder of REVELRY states, “hosting is my love language.”

While entertaining might be one of the world’s oldest traditions, REVELRY’s designs bring fresh modernity and joy to seasonal gatherings everywhere. While exceptional parties create familiar and warm spaces, they also bring newness and discovery down to every last detail on the table. Padia’s passion for travel fuels many of the global influences reflected in her six tabletop collections and decorative home accents.

In many ways, her collections empower hosts to create warm and welcoming environments for the parties they bring together, with creative features and textures that nod to the designer’s global perspective and production. “Travel has always been a major part of my life – I rarely feel as inspired as I do when I’m exploring a new city or country. I wanted the collection to have a global element, and sourcing and producing from around the world is part of that mission,” she shares.

So, we tapped Purvi Padia as the expert on entertaining to learn more about her worldly designs, background, and stylish celebrations.

We know that the concept of hosting is pivotal to the collection. There is so much cultural significance in hosting, gathering, and entertaining. Tell us a bit about yours.

“I was born and raised in America, but my roots are deeply Indian.  And in our culture, my mom always used to say “If you are in our home, you are not a guest, you are family”. Growing up, my house was always overflowing with friends and family, and the idea of gathering with those you love to tell stories, share ideas and create laughter over a meal is something that is so ingrained in me.”

In many ways, people are creating homes away from home, whether they’re in their vacation houses or entertaining for exceptional events. How do you create a home away from home?

“I think it’s a feeling not a place that creates “home”. With that being said, I love the idea of filling a space with items that feel warm, welcoming and like a soft place to land. From the food, sounds and scents to the decor, color palettes and silhouettes – home is where you feel the comforts of familiarity and belonging.”

Any global or international influences in your collection?

“The golden accents are reminiscent of beautiful Indian gold jewelry, the blown glass from Italy and the pressed glass from France and Sweden. Additionally, the marbles and stone silhouettes are a nod to old European architecture.”

Favorite trip you’ve ever been on and why?

“Travel is one of my greatest passions, but if I have to pick one, I would say a trip I took in 2018 to my home state of Gujarat, India. I had just founded the LION fund in collaboration with UNICEF and that was my first visit to see the initiative in action. It was easily the most emotional, impactful week of my life and left me forever changed.”
